Italian luxury car maker Ferrari unveiled its latest mid-engine V8 supercar, the 488 GTB, at an exclusive, star-studded, in London.
The event was held at the Old Sorting Office in Holborn, Central London, as VIP guests including Donna Air, Mary Charteris and Jade Parfitt and others, were seated in a "track style grandstand" and treated to a fantastic performance that featured 3D laser mapping and exclusive video footage of the eagerly awaited new model.
Francesco Balli, Regional Manager, Ferrari North Europe, said: “"It has been a fantastic opportunity to share this evening with so many passionate Ferrari clients at one of London’s coolest venues, with the new 488 GTB which promises to deliver new levels of excitement and driving involvement.”
The event took place forty years after Ferrari unveiled its first ever mid-rear-engine V8 model, the 308 GTB. The Ferrari 488 GTB offers track-level performance that can be enjoyed to the fullest even by non-professional drivers, in everyday use. The Ferrari's response times, nimbleness and on-the-limit driving offer a unique sense of exhilaration and of course "unparalleled driving pleasure".
The new berlinetta captures Ferrari’s race experience in both F1 and the WEC where the 458 GT holds the World Championship title and has won its category in the last two 24 Hours of Le Mans. The new model takes advantage of the the "know-how" that the supercar maker has derived from Ferrari technicians over the last decade through the XX program where the company creates "extreme" track-only cars that are made available to gentleman test-drivers. The data yielded from this program has made a significant contribution to the refinement of the 488GT.
The 488 GTB’s new 3902 cc V8 turbo engine unleashes 670 cv at 8,000 rpm along with 760 Nm of maximum torque in seventh gear and a response time to the accelerator of 0.8 seconds at 2,000 rpm. The Ferrari 488 GTB will accelerate from 0-200 km/h in an 8.3 seconds. The Ferrari 488 GTB had its official global launch at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
At the unveiling Ferrari presented 40 years of #Ferrari #GTB heritage on New Oxford Street. To read more about the event check the official #London #488GTB launch page and then return to LaLuxore and stay tuned for the latest news, views and insights on living a luxury lifestyle.
